3,652 Days Later

On this day, do not be sad. To mourn a loss is normal and healthy. But we must work to not dwell.

Take this day, not to remember mass murder, but to remember the 2,996 people who are loved and missed.

    I knew Florence and Joyce and used to see them at Passover Seders, weddings, and sometimes funerals. I always found Florence to be easy to be around. I remember joking around with both her and Joyce, and recall a conversation we once had about the movie, My Left Foot. She and Joyce were sitting next to each other, and when I told them that I liked the movie, I remember the response: You know, the movie was OK, but couldn’t they have come up with a better title?

    A relative told me that there was a handicapped person in her office who could not physically make it down the stairs. Florence waited with her for the firemen to arrive. What can I do but say thank you to Florence? Thanks Florence, we’ll miss you.
